Sunday the 15th of June saw the 3rd round of the National XC Series at a hilly Margam park, the course was nearly identical to the 2013 with only a few minor changes.
I travelled up on Saturday morning with friends Phil Pearce and Michael Guildford.
The weekend didnt start the best for Mike crashing in practice on the first shoot and landing on his thigh. He did everything he could to get it right in the 20hrs he had but that was only good for 1 lap when he had to retire.
Margam today was a tough course with a fair bit of climbing followed by some steep rocky shoots. Phil won the Expert category by just under 2 minutes. I had good legs today and paired with the perfect bike and tyres I rode a strong race and finished 6th in a strong Elite Field with a top 5 worldwide rider turning up and dominating. I got all emotional after the race as Ive been waiting along time this year for this result.
