General Update

Been a bit slack with my Blogger updates so just a general update.

What awesome weather at the moment, Lots of building and riding going down at my local forest, berms being built short steep hills, the odd roller and a 7ft Wooden roll in when im feeling brave, all good fun. Building prietty much stops now as the Southern XC is on next Sunday at Crow Hill.

Going Back to the Gorrick 100 on the 6th of May at Swinley Forest i opted for the 3 lap race as i didn't do masses of miles beforehand otherwise i probably would have done the 3/4 lap race. Started well sitting in 3rd place on the 1st straight behind Gary Record and Nick Onslow and passed nick on the 1st downhill and sat on Gary records wheel, i continued to follow Gary down a fireroad descent and was right on Gary 's when and he swerved left to avoid a large puddle/rut that i tried to bowl through. What a mistake that was, next thing i know i was lying on the floor narrowly being missed by oncoming riders stuggling to get myself up of the floor. Eventually when i got up Rocky the Owens cycles team manager helped me to the Ambulance to get cleaned up and i came of lightly with only minor scrapes and scratches. Taking a look at the bike, the old Easton stem i was rocking was cracked down the center and the top tube was scratched where the bars had swung round and hit the top tube. My helmet would have been throw away if Specialized wouldn't offer a 50% of the RRP Crash replacement, i will be getting my new prevail when i can afford it then Martin Turton my Teamate can have his old S-Works 2d lid back of me.

Onto the Southern XC at Wasing Park which i started rather slowly riding with Martin Turton, James Tapp and Will Spiers but i was really finding the pace hard going but i kept pounding on and me and Martin went onto catch 2nd & 3rd. Jack Finch of Vitus Uk/Chain reaction cycles was in 2rd place and Joe Griffiths of Dream CC IN 3rd place. We all rode together for over a lap, towards the end of the last lap Martin and Joe attacked leaving me behind, i kept them in my sights and during the last few minutes of the race coming out of the forest into the field i buried myself and was gaining on both of them with Joe just getting away from Martin. Coming into the last corner i was right on Martin's wheel and took the outside line as i didn't want to get taken out and crash, i accellerated out of the corner and was gaining on martin every pedal stroke and as i tried to accellerate again my shoe unclipped from the pedal which was a real shame as i have never beaten Martin before and i lost out on a podium at the Southern XC Championships.

Next Race Southern XC Round 4 - Crow Hill 3rd June
