Sunday the 13th of November saw the 2nd round of the Gorrick Endura Autumn classic 2 at a suprisingly warm Crowthorne Wood. I arrived early as usual to watch my dad and another friend race in fun. My dad did rather well and got 2nd again but he has to go up a caetgorie now he is still undecided whether to go in Veteran or Open. Onto my race the sport race went off at 2.15pm with a healthy field of 18riders and i got a good start leading the race up the first climb when i sat up to let someone else set the pace. Benjamin Marks of (Cycles Works) took up the pace with Martin Turton of West Drayton Mbc on his wheel and they were also joined by Dave creggan of (VC Meudon) and behind them was a small group with me, Sam Stean of VC Jubilee and a few other guys. After 5/6 minutes of settling into my race pace i left this group and joined the leading pack. We continued to stay together for the 1st lap but on the 2nd lap me and Martin Made an attack and dropped Benjamin Marks of (Cycle works). During the 3rd lap we both thought we had got away and was going to be a sprint finish but we had a suprise to find Benjamin Marks caught us up in the first 1/3 of the last lap and continued to ride with us for a short time but i could see by his expressions he wasnt really trying and i knew he was going to launch an attack fairly soon. Both of us reacted to the attack but he was just too strong and we couldnt get back to him, me and Martin continued to ride together but when he launched his attack i just couldn't quite keep his wheel and then my chain fell of causing me to lose another 20seconds but i didnt lose 3rd place so i was happy when i finished my race as this was my first podium result in the Sport Category.
