Xtm Festival 4hr Enduro

Saturday the 8th of October saw the Xtm Festival 4hr Enduro sponsored by Cycle Surgery. I had never done this event before but thought id give it a go with a friend as a pair. So we got to the venue at Hawley lake which is just over the road from the Torq 12hour race that was on a few months back. We both decided that it would be best for the quicker rider to do the first lap so i was up on the first lap, a small group of 4 formed with me, Ed rose, paul brennan and a cannondale rider ahead of the race. About 3km in there was just 3 of us left with Ed rose doing the majority of the pace making, the cannondale rider wasnt far back from us. We continued to stay as a group until 6.5km in where i punctured and had to run the rest of the lap which put me and Stuart in prietty much dead last. Whilst stuart was out doing his lap i was busy fixing my puncture and my ruined legs, the problem concerning the puncture was a nail around 1.5inches long which had perished the tube. But after that the race went well with both of us passing riders out on course. Then on my 3rd lap i had a little bit of a battle with Ed roses brother Ricahrd who started his lap around 30/40 seconds ahead, and he kept me in his sights for the rest of the lap, but richard and Ed went on to win the race with a staggering 9laps or 90km between them with Ed doing 5 laps, a surperb win from the 2 brothers. Now onto the presentation which we thought and many others thought we got 3rd position but that wasnt the case when we came to stand up on the podium as our names were not called out so we thought we must have been denied 3rd place and finished in 4th, but the next day when me and stuart (my fellow rider) checked the results we had actually got 3rd place and the results had been worked out incorrectly on the day of the race. A big thanks to Stuart Mann for being my teamate and also for the left to and from the event.
