Gorrick 100 Enduro Challenge - 1st May 2011
With completely different weather condidtions to last years event the Sun decided to make an apperance and with 10 miles of Dusty trails in Swinley forest to be ridden i got on my way in the 3lap event which kicked off at 12.30. Luckily i got a good start and was in the top 3 from the gun and a small group fomed of around 6/7 riders. The first challenge of the lap came within around 2 miles of the start, it was a horrible climb loose rocks and sand making grip a real struggle especially on a Hardtail so i was forced to get off and push the bike which wasnt the best start, but from here on in it went rather well with only 2 other riders ahead and 1 other rider with me who suffered a puncture (Which i was unaware of) until the end of the race. So with Josh Ibbett of TORQ Performance ahead it left me and Richard Lister of GABBY DAY CYCLESPORT RT to battle it out but he kept getting a gap and i had to work hard to keep pulling him back but in the end he got away. This left me alone for the rest of the race except half a lap with Ian Leitch of CANNONDALE RACING in the 7lap race in 2nd position behind Ben Thomas of TORQ PERFORMANCE then it was time for me to leave Ian as he called me on ahead. Then i remained alone for the rest of the race and finished in a Respectable 3rd position to recieve a Plate/Medal and a Exposure flare rear light. Good Race in all
