Sunday the 19th of August saw the 4th and Final round of the 1st gear cycles Rats rampage series held at checkendon. The venue was also shared with a road sportive ride which didnt really affect our race apart from having to drive out a different way to get to the main road. My Junior race started a few minutes after the elite and expert races which was quite good as i had some riders to aim to overtake later on in the race. I got a reasonable start with martin turton leading till around 1/2 way along the 1st fireroad where i took to the front to control the pace. I was on the front for 1/2 a lap before getting away with Joe Norledge and he set the pace for the 2nd half of the lap working together until lap 4. During lap 4 Joe started to fade a little and i kept the pressure on and working hard to catch some of the expert/open riders. After the race i was talking to Joe who i rode with for the first 3 laps and he went on to say he had a puncture as i thought he might have been able to come back to me later in the race. After looking at the results i was happy with my performance and a Win's a Win as they say. This was only my 2nd win of the year but i was very happy with the consistency of my lap times with lap 4 & 5 being my 2 fastest laps. I won the Junior race by 3 & 3/4 minutes ahead of teamate Martin Turton.
